Lloyd E. Robideaux Nov. 2, 1933 - Nov. 15, 2007

Lloyd was born in Bend, Oregon. He had a fortunate upbringing and thoroughly cherished his childhood years. Being an only child, he devoted a lot of his time to music, where he learned to play the piano at a very young age. In high school and college, he had many fond memories of playing in the jazz band with his good friend Tommy Thompson. They remained friends up until his death.

After graduating from high school, Lloyd went on to Oregon State University, then graduated from Idaho State with a Bachelor Degree in Science. He continued on to the University of Nevada, and there joined the Navy at the Naval Reserve Center where he spent 10 years. During that time, he made 4 trips across the Pacific while he was Commanding Officer of the LLST for 3 years.

He often spoke of all the places he'd traveled around the world (Hawaii, Japan, Tokyo, Miami, New York, Atlantic City, etc...). He loved traveling.

Lloyd finally settled in Bakersfield in 1961 where he started teaching at Shafter High School. While there, he was department chairman and taught science and algebra. Then, after retiring, continued to teach night classes in computer programming. He loved teaching and had many fond memories of all his students. He made many friends through the years. Because of his love of music, Lloyd and his wife made many trips to the jazz festivals at the coast and in Las Vegas. He loved that!

Lloyd had a full life and will be greatly missed by all who knew him for his kindness and generosity. He especially had a soft heart for children.

Lloyd is preceded in death by his son Richard Robideaux. He is survived by his wife Christy Robideaux, four daughters - Tracey Burton and her husband Bruce; Sharon Ramsey and her husband Steve; Wendy White and her husband Kevin; Rebecca Montano and her husband Tom; one stepdaughter Holly Steele and her husband Jeff, numerous grandchildren and one very special nephew whom he adored and called his buddy, Jeffray Gooch.

Our family would like to specially thank all the hospice volunteers for all their caring help and kind support during Lloyd's last months. A special thanks to Layne Sherrill who became like part of the family. Also, we would like to thank Tess and Anna who helped so much as well as Sylvia and Bertha who tried to make Lloyd's life as comfortable as possible. Due to Lloyd's wishes, no services will be held, only a small gathering for the immediate family.
