She was born on January 3, 1941, in Bend to Jay & Judith (Skaggs) Rhodes. Judith was later married to Vince Frier.
Zola is a 3rd generation resident of Bend, and with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren the family is now into their 5th generation. It all began with her great-grandparents whom homesteaded at the base of Glass Butte many years ago.
Zola enjoyed making custom cakes and was a quilt maker and seamstress, loved visiting the Oregon Coast, storm chasing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Edgar James (Jan Ostrin) Parker IV of Bend, Marji Parker of Bend; daughters, Tami (Tom) Cook of Bend, Jaynee (Terry) Duckett of Redmond, Julie (Todd) Bennett of Bend; brothers, Robert (Sandra) Rhodes of Gresham, Terry (Patty) Rhodes of Vienna, VA, Dennis (Kim) Frier of Bend; grandchildren, Robbie Luff, Aaron Luff, Ben Bennett, Liz Bennett, E.J. Parker, Makaela Parker; great-grandchildren, Joe Zimmerman, Jacob Luff, Aleha Luff, Joerg Shambaugh; many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009, 12:00 pm at Greenwood Cemetery, in Bend, followed by a Celebration of Life Service from 1-3 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 60800 Tekampe Rd., Bend.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Partners In Care Hospice, 2075 NE Wyatt Ct. Bend, OR 97701.
