Dr. Harold “Dick” Richard Holbo of Albany, died on September 21, 2017.
He was born on January 27, 1937 in DeKalb, Illinois to Harold Ivan Holbo and Gretta Mae Neiwold.
Dick met the love of his life, Elmerita "Rita" Marlea Tonzi in 1952. They were married in Ione, California on June 15, 1957.
Dick was a researcher and innovator, with expertise in forest micro-climate and remote sensing, inducted into Sigma Xi, ('65) In addition to graduating from several universities, Dick also had research publications of significance at the following — UC Davis ('60), UN Reno ('63), Colorado State ('65), Oregon State University ('69, '73) UW ('76), UC Riverside ('82) NASA ('86). He served his country in the Naval Reserve. Dick was a member of the American Radio Relay League, with the call letters of WB7 UWT.
Dick is survived by wife Rita; son Richard; daughter Kirsten; brother Stephen; sister Bev Bamert; and four grandchildren, Amanda Holbo, Adrian Van Horsen, Zane Van Horsen and Kieran Van Horsen.
