Mildred Opal Newton of Vallejo, California, died Tuesday at Sunbridge Care Center in Fairfield, California, following a long illness. She was 81.

The graveside service officiated by the family will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery in Bend.

Mrs. Newton was born Aug. 13, 1919. She was a native of Kansas and a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter, Claudia Rogers of Fairfield; one son, Melvin of Albany; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Twin Chapels Mortuary in Vallejo is in charge of arrangements.
