Mr. Johnson was born March 10, 1924, in Marshall, Minn., the son of Gislie and Hilda Johnson. He was a high school graduate. He married Alida Daniel in 1947 in Rapid City, South Dakota. He later married Bertha Ries in 1967 in Winnemucca, Nevada.
Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He worked in construction and later did janitorial work for the Eagles Lodge. He was a member of the Laborers’ Union and the VFW in Bend, and he was a previous worthy president of the Eagles Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Gary, of Bend; a daughter, Jan Williams, of Reno, Nevada; four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by both of his wives. Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Marchant was born Dec. 12, 1910, in Canadian, Oklahoma. He married Jewel Allen in 1932, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. He moved to Bend from Northern California in 1973.
Mr. Marchant was a former member of the Odd Fellows in Bixby, Oklahoma. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, music, gardening, spending time with his family and going to the Bend Senior Center.
Survivors include his son, Bill of La Pine; three daughters, Mary Curtiss of Bend, Linda Andreasen of Sugar City, Idaho, and Peggy Sebastian of San Diego, California; a brother, Fred of Oklahoma; and a sister, Imadean Cordray of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his wife and numerous siblings.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Bend-La Pine.

Mrs. Marchant was born Aug. 18, 1910, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated from high school in 1929. She married Dan Marchant on Nov. 12, 1932, in Tulsa County, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Marchant was an active volunteer and member of the Bend Senior Center for 15 years. She also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for 16 years.
She enjoyed her family, cooking, gardening and visiting with friends.
Survivors include her husband, Dan of Bend; three daughters, Mary Jo Curtis of Denver, Colorado, Linda Andreason of Sugar City, Idaho, and Margaret Sebastian of Santee, California; one son, William of La Pine; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Newton was born Aug. 13, 1919. She was a native of Kansas and a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter, Claudia Rogers of Fairfield; one son, Melvin of Albany; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

IMPERIAL, Calif. — Earl Julius Peterson of Imperial died April 6, 2000 at the age of 85.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood Cemetery, Bend. He will be buried next to his wife, Elma, who preceded him in death. A memorial service was held in Imperial.
Mr. Peterson was born to Gerhard Ransom and Matilda Christina Valen Peterson on Dec. 12, 1914, in Story City, Iowa.
He married Elma Larsen and moved to Southern California, where he worked for Douglas Aircraft. They later moved to Bend where they owned a restaurant. He later went into real estate.
Mr. Peterson moved to Sun City, Ariz., and lived there six years.
He is survived by his sister, Marie Judith Rea of Brazil. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother.
Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
