Maxine Kohfield of Bend died Sunday at a local foster care facility. She was 80.

A funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Niswonger, Reynolds & Tabor Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery. Reverend Bruce Kohfield will officiate.

Ms. Kohfield was born July 27, 1920, in Bend to Arthur and Marie (Wood) Kohfield. She was a lifetime resident of Bend.

She first worked as a stenographer for Judge Ellis. She then went to work for the U.S. Forest Service in the supervisor's office in Bend. She was transferred to the Fort Rock District from which she retired as an administrative assistant after 30 years with the Forest Service. Following her retirement she worked for U.S. Bank in Bend for 10 years.

Ms. Kohfield also sang on KBND as a live vocalist in the late 1940s and 1950s.

She enjoyed animals and teaching her nieces and nephews how to drive her car.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, 61170 SE 27th St., Bend, 97702.
