IMPERIAL, Calif. — Earl Julius Peterson of Imperial died April 6, 2000 at the age of 85.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood Cemetery, Bend. He will be buried next to his wife, Elma, who preceded him in death. A memorial service was held in Imperial.

Mr. Peterson was born to Gerhard Ransom and Matilda Christina Valen Peterson on Dec. 12, 1914, in Story City, Iowa.

He married Elma Larsen and moved to Southern California, where he worked for Douglas Aircraft. They later moved to Bend where they owned a restaurant. He later went into real estate.

Mr. Peterson moved to Sun City, Ariz., and lived there six years.

He is survived by his sister, Marie Judith Rea of Brazil. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother.

Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
