Louis Albert Cubero of Bend died Tuesday of natural causes. He was 73.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home.

Mr. Cubero was born June 1, 1933, in Puerto Rico to Francisco and Marina Cubero. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1971 during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He married Lavonne Cubero in 1968 in National City, California.

Mr. Cubero owned and operated Lou's Barber and Beauty Shop from 1974 to 2000. He also played drums for the band Ice Breakers. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks, Eagles, VFW and the Fleet Reserve Association. He enjoyed playing bongos and maracas, dancing, music and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Edward of Bend and Louis Jr. of Marietta, Georgia, three daughters, Jana Taylor, Carol Andre and Dana, all of Bend; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mr. Cubero's family to help with the cost of arrangements c/o Jana Taylor, 59871 Cheyenne Road, Bend, OR 97702.

Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
