Gary F. Cruikshank of Bend died Saturday of natural causes. He was 73.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church at 230 NE Ninth St. in Bend.

A private family internment will be held before the memorial service.

Mr. Cruikshank was born March 4, 1929, in Boise, Idaho. He married Janet (Walmsey) Cruikshank on Aug. 10, 1957 in Nampa, Idaho.

A veteran of the Korean War, he taught at both Bend and Mountain View High Schools until his retirement in 1985.

He was active in the First Presbyterian Church, the Elks, Masons and the theater.

He also loved to garden, fish, camp and spend time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Janet, of Bend; daughters Amy Ann Welsh of Sacramento, Calif. and Marybeth T. Stewart-Scots of Bend; and four grand-daughters, also of Sacramento.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donating some time at a local care facility or a donation to the First Presbyterian Church of Bend.

Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
