Fern Y. Barnett, of Bend, died Dec. 17 of natural causes. She was 81.  Private services will be held.

Mrs. Barnett was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Wapinitia to Earl and Veva (Bronner) Birchard. She graduated from Bend High School in 1944. She married Lee Barnett on Jan. 31, 1943, in Payette, Idaho.

Mrs. Barnett was a homemaker. She was a member of the Des-chutes Pioneer Association, the VFW Post No. 1643 Auxiliary, the Bend Eagles Lodge Auxiliary, and she was a member and secretary of the Golden Age Card Club. She enjoyed reading, pinochle, spending time with family and friends and crocheting lap robes for the Veterans Hospital and Grandmas House.

Survivors include a brother, Kenneth Birchard, of Springfield; and a sister, Hazel LeBlanc, of Bend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons and a brother.
