Christopher G. Smoldt, of Bend, died Saturday of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was 21.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Cemetery. A reception will follow the graveside service at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Center.

Mr. Smoldt was born Nov. 6, 1984, in Bend to Don and Jeanne (Skulich) Smoldt. He worked as a technician for BendBroadband. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He enjoyed snowboarding, wakeboarding, skateboarding, rock jumping and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include his parents; a brother, Donny, of Eugene; two sisters, Katherine and Mallory, both of Bend; and two grandparents, Otis and Ella Burgess, of Bend.

Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home of Bend is in charge of arrangements.

Man killed in motorcycle crash

A Bend man was killed Saturday night in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash near Brookswood Boulevard and Rock Bluff Lane in southwest Bend, according to a news release from the Bend Police Department.

Christopher Galen Smoldt, 21, failed to negotiate a curve while passing another vehicle at about 7 p.m. on Brookswood near Rock Bluff Lane. Police said his motorcycle left the roadway and crashed into a street sign. Smoldt died at the scene, according to the release. The case is still under investigation.
