Lemoyne 'Joe' J. Weirich of Bend died Friday of natural causes. He was 84.

A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Funeral Home. A burial will follow the service at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Weirich was born Dec. 23, 1916, in Lebanon. He married Thelma Sharrah on Nov. 17, 1982, in Bend.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a heavy equipment operator in the Seabees during World War II.

Mr. Weirich worked as a heavy equipment operator on various ranches and farms in Nevada and California.
He was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge. He enjoyed gardening and playing steel guitar. He sat in as a guest player with Buck Owen?s band and Bob Wils and the Texas Playboys.

Survivors include his wife of Bend; two sons, Richard of Lebanon and Larry of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Richard and Larry Johnson, both of Shreveport, La.; two daughters, Joelann Weaver of Belton, Texas and Marlene Splawn of Springfield; two stepdaughters, Donice Edney of West Monroe, La., and Ann North of Shreveport, La.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister and a grandson.
