Ralph A. Dodd of Bend died Aug. 31 of natural causes. He was 92.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at Light & Life Free Methodist Church in Bend.

Mr. Dodd was born Oct. 26, 1907, in Kennebec, S.D.

He worked for 45 years as a Free Methodist minister, retiring in 1987.

Mr. Dodd founded Life Line International Prison Ministries in Oregon in the 1960s. He directed the service, which provided ministry to inmates and their families for 25 years.

He enjoyed being of service to the community and his family.

Mr. Dodd was a member of La Pine Senior Center for five years.

He married Esther Zook in 1930, in Mitchell, S.D. The couple moved to Central Oregon to be near relatives.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Laurin Dodd of Idaho Falls, Jerry Dodd of San Diego and Del Dodd of McCall, Idaho; seven daughters, Rosalie Dodd of Portland, Elaine Williams of Loma Linda, Calif., Verna Binch of Sherwood, Sharon Haug of Snohomish, Wash., Marietta Qual of La Pine, Esther Dodd of Gresham and Donna Brown of Oregon City; two sisters, Dorothy Hardin of Marseilles, Ill. and Bertha Stewart of Clear Lake, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Light & Life Free Methodist Church in Bend or East Los Angeles Light & Life Christian School, 207 Dacotah St., Los Angeles 90063.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Niswonger, Reynolds & Tabor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
