Burt Gustine Seaver of Bend died Thursday of natural causes. He was 78.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Terrebonne Pioneer Cemetery.

Mr. Seaver was born Jan. 23, 1928, in West Swanzey, N.H., to Burt and Emma (Vigneau) Seaver. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded a Bronze Star. He married Nancy Bouchie on Aug. 11, 1951, in Keene, N.H.

Mr. Seaver worked as a carpenter. He was a member of the carpenter's union No. 125. He enjoyed woodworking, building horse trailers, making saddles, raising race horses and spending time with his grandchildren.

His survivors include:

Wife, Nancy of Bend

Son, Peter of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho

Daughters, Lisa Thomas of Redmond, Karen Judson and Linda Cook, both of Bend, and Cynthia Kagan of Montana

Brother, Earl of North Carolina

Sister, Dorothy Reed of New Hampshire

and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Katheryn Thomas to Doernbecher's Children's Hospital, Oncology Dept., 1121 S.W. Salmon, Portland, OR 97205.

Autumn Funerals of Bend is in charge of arrangements.
