Donald William Miltenberger, of Alfalfa, died Monday of natural causes. He was 85.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at Powell Butte Church.

Mr. Miltenberger was born June 18, 1921, in La Pine to Howard and Minnie (Gregg) Miltenberger. He was a 1939 graduate of La Pine High School. He married Jeanne Johnston on May 27, 1949, in Bend.

Mr. Miltenberger served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. He was a rancher and a member of the Oregon Cattlemen's Association, the Elks Lodge and the Redmond VFW. He was a founding member and was on the board of directors of the Hampton Butte Grazing co-op. He was affiliated with the Alfalfa School Board, Central Electric co-op, the Central Oregon Irrigation District and the Deschutes County Fair Board. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Kenneth, of Alfalfa; a daughter, Marilyn McFarlane, of Powell Butte; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Niswonger-Reynolds Funeral Home of Bend is in charge of arrangements.
