Raymond Paul Poncy of Bend died Dec. 31. He was 85.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12 at Greenwood Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Poncy was born Jan. 10, 1918, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Joseph and Clairette (Mandeville) Poncy.
He married Hazel Stricklin on June 30, 1940, in Van Nuys, Calif.

Mr. Poncy began working for the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in 1939 and worked on aircraft production there until his retirement in 1961. He then moved with his family to Bend and taught at Central Oregon Community College until his retirement in 1982.

Mr. Poncy enjoyed aviation, restoring old cars, fishing, traveling, reading, history and spending time with his cats and his family.

Survivors include his wife of Bend; a son, Robert of Tualatin; two daughters, Kathy of Bend, and Phyllis of Mukilteo, Wash.; and two brothers, Francis "Pat" of Sisters and Arthur of California.

He was preceded in death by a sister, five brothers and his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Humane Society of Central Oregon, 61170 SE 27th St., Bend 97702.

Niswonger, Reynolds Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
