Richard C. Thornton of Redmond died Saturday of natural causes. He was 61.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Westside Church in Bend. A graveside service will follow at 1 p.m. at Terrebonne Pioneer Cemetery.
Mr. Thornton was born Oct. 16, 1944, in Albany, N.Y., to Charles and Beatrice (Snyder) Thornton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married June Huntington in 1989 in Redmond.
Mr. Thornton owned and operated Richard Thornton Trucking. He was a member of Westside Church, the Redmond VFW, DAV, the NRA and the Owner Operator Independent Driver Association. He enjoyed painting, welding, horseback riding, camping and fishing.

Wife, June, of Redmond
Son, Greg, of Texas
Daughters, Keri Podell of Terrebonne and Summer Burkhardt, Emily Burkhardt, Crystal and Brittany, all of Redmond
Brother, Arthur of Crestview, Florida
Sisters, Marge Ballon of Niceville, Florida, and Edith Flemming of New York
and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two children, his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Autumn Funerals of Redmond is in charge of arrangements.
