E.E. "Al" Dent, of Salem, died August 5, 2006 of natural causes. He was 88.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Terrebonne Pioneer Cemetery.

Mr. Dent was born Dec. 31, 1917, in Edmonds, North Dakota, to Wesley and Jennie Dent. He married Mary Campoli in 1942. He later married Sheila Dent.

Mr. Dent served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was chief of police in Madras for four years in the 1950s. He served 12 years with the Redmond City Police Department. After returning from World War II, he moved to Terrebonne, then Madras, Redmond and Salem.

His survivors include:

Wife, Sheila

Sons, Robert, of Bend, Gary, of Beaverton, Jack, of Brooks, Doug, of Prineville, and Skip, of Hope, Alaska

11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
