Rex G. Downing of Bend died November 13, 2001 of natural causes. He was 81.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at 19955 Wagon Tree Court with Pastor Cary Greenlee officiating. For more information please contact 948-0865.

Mr. Downing was born Aug. 30, 1920, in Berkeley, Calif. He married Marjorie Merrill in 1962, in Reno, Nev.

He served in the Navy and Marines during World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Downing worked as a supervisor for Pacific Bell in California. He was retired.

His survivors include:

Wife, Marjorie, of Bend

Daughters, Sandra Mata of Pittsburg, California, and Linda.

He was preceded in death by his son.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
