Douglass Scott Stevens Sr. of Bend died Saturday. He was 51.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery. A memorial celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Grace Community Presbyterian Church in Bend.

Mr. Stevens was born Jan. 15, 1950, in Bend to William and Catherine (Silvers) Stevens. While attending Bend Senior High School he played football and baseball, designed and built sets for drama and designed a car for the Fisher Body Contest, which won him an award. He graduated in 1968.

He served in the Army from 1968-1971. He was honorably discharged at the rank of SPEC 5.

Mr. Stevens was a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He moved back to Bend in 1977.

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, bow hunting, hiking, camping, mountain climbing, art, cooking and pottery.
Survivors include his son, Douglass Jr. of Bend; one daughter, Ann Marie Todd of Independence; parents of Bend; four sisters, Linda Smouse of Kendall Park, N.J., Yvonne Carter and Billie Sumner, both of Portland and Teresa Stevens of California; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 740 NE First St., Bend 97701.

Niswonger-Reynolds and Tabor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
