William Scott Stevens, of Hillsboro, died Nov. 3 of complications related to heart failure and Alzheimer’s disease. He was 84.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 1 at Grace Reformed Presbyterian Church in Bend.  Graveside services will be private.

Mr. Stevens was born Nov. 7, 1922, in Stockton, Kan., the son of Alvin and Fannie Stevens. He graduated from high school in Stockton. He married Catherine Silvers on Sept. 7, 1942, in Stockton.

Mr. Stevens served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He was owner of Bend Shoe Clinic for 57 years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading. He moved to Bend after the war.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Linda Smouse, of Kendall Park, N.J., Teresa, of California, and Yvonne Carter and Billie Sumner, both of Portland; a brother, Kenneth, of Bend; a sister, Wilma Bigge, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a son.
