Evelyn Lucille (Rodeheaver) Cleveland of Bend died Friday of natural causes. She was 84.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Eastmont Church in Bend. A graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Bend.

Mrs. Cleveland was born Nov. 21, 1918, in Three Rivers, Mich., to John and Emma (Buffington) Rodeheaver. She married George Cleveland on April 6, 1941, in Constantine, Mich.

She graduated from high school in 1935, as valedictorian, in Constantine. She also graduated from the American Technical Institute. Mrs. Cleveland worked as a secretary and office manager at Bend's Lelco Inc. from 1946 to 1995. She also worked for Air Berlin Co. of Germany during that period. She served on several civic committees and was named mother of the year by the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Mrs. Cleveland was active in the Order of Eastern Star Bend Chapter 109. She served as royal matron in 1977 and 1978 and was chairwoman of the organization's grand chapter cancer research committee. Mrs. Cleveland spent two months in Australia as an order representative.

Survivors include her husband, George Cleveland of Bend; two sons, George of Portland and Andrew of Lake Oswego; one sister, Betty Jenkins of Portland; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Oregon Home Health & Hospice at 2698 NE Courtney Drive, Bend, OR 97701; Cancer Research c/o Oregon Eastern Start No. 109 in Redmond; or the Eastmont Church Building Fund.
