Walter 'Wally' Frank Korcek Jr. of Redmond died Sunday at his home due to complications from cancer. He was 52.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Terrebonne Pioneer Cemetery on Smith Rock Way with a memorial service following at 3 p.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Redmond.
Mr. Korcek was born Nov. 11, 1948, in Staten Island, N.Y., to Dr. Walter F. and Olive Rose (Ford) Korcek Sr. He graduated from Loma Linda University with a Bachelor's degree in history. He went on to two years of graduate school at the University of California in Riverside and studied political science.
He married Sherry Stephan on April 3, 1977, in Ontario, Calif.
Mr. Korcek was the manager of a security guard business and then became manager of "Armored Transport," an armored car agency. He and his wife moved to Redmond in 1981 and he managed Walt's Lawn Care.
He was a member of the Redmond Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Mr. Korcek enjoyed working out at the gym and weight lifting. He also enjoyed his Bible study.
His survivors include:
Wife, Sherry, of Redmond
Sons, Nicholas and Nathanael, of Redmond
Father and stepmother, Walter and Nona Korceck, Sr. of Southern California
Sisters, Linda VanMierlo of Lynwood, California, and Terri Holub of Pleasant Hill
Brothers, Douglas of Yreka, Caliornia., Michael of Lebanon and Joe Comrack of Burney, California
He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister.
