Marjorie Lois Foss Entrikin, a lifelong resident of Central Oregon, died July 16, 2008, at her home at the age of 81.

Mrs. Entrikin was born Feb. 25, 1927, in Terrebonne, to parents James Arthur and Martha (Burgess) Foss. She grew up on her parents' farm just south of Smith Rock. She attended grade school in Terrebonne and graduated from Redmond High School in 1945, and Oregon State College in 1949.

In 1949, she and Dean Entrikin were married at the Redmond Christian Church. They farmed in the Metolius area until buying a farm on Agency Plains in 1958. Mrs. Entrikin was a 4-H leader and Cub Scout den mother. She grew and preserved vegetables for the family table and sewed the clothes the family wore.

In 1966, she began a 19-year career as a business teacher at Madras High School. In 1970, she earned her master's degree in education.

The Entrikins built a home south of Madras in 1984, after retiring from farming. There, she created beautiful and extensive flower beds. After retiring from teaching in 1985, she traveled worldwide with her husband. Mr. Entrikin passed away in 1995. She made two major trips with her adult children to China and Japan, and enjoyed many vacations with her children and grandchildren.

In the community, she was a member of the Madras Christian Church, Madras Garden Club, Extension Day Study, and bridge clubs. She was delighted to see the aquatic center built. She had voted in favor of the project since ballots in the early 1950s. She would give money to any student who was selling for a school fundraiser.

Her survivors include:

Daughters and their husbands, Roxie and Ralph Snyder and their children Philip and Peter, of Brownsville, Nancy Entrikin and her children Tess and Isabel of Portland

Sons and daughters-in-law, David Entrikin and Niloofar Khiabani and their children Daryoosh and Layla, of Portland, and Jerry and Lynne Entrikin and their children Mackenzie, Madeline and Jake, of Corvallis

Brother, Art Foss of Vale, Oregon

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, two brothers, and a sister.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., July 25, at the Madras Christian Church. Private interment is at the Terrebonne Cemetery. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Jefferson County Food Bank.
