Billie Jim Boyd of Bend died Sunday at his home after a brief illness. He was 65.

A viewing will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Boyd was born Dec. 23, 1936, in Sand Springs, Okla., to Earl Boyd and Robbie Boyd-Metcalf. He married Betty Jean Bell on June 6, 1955, in California.

He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for four years.

Mr. Boyd worked in construction. He retired in 1999.

He enjoyed cars, chocolate, the 49ers football team and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of Bend; two daughters, Kim Greene of Redmond and Michelle Shaffer of Crooked River Ranch; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his two sons and parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
