Section 3

Doris Virginia Dodson passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 83 years of age and went peacefully into the arms of her loving savior.

Doris was born on August 9, 1925 to John and Bertha Anglin in Mangum, Oklahoma.

She was married to Ralph Dodson on November 11, 1943 in Vernon, Texas.  Soon after their marriage Ralph went into the military and Doris relocated to Oregon with family until Ralph could join her there. Doris was familiar with hard work and possessed a spark of entrepreneurial spirit. During her life she supported family businesses in Junction City and La Pine as well as several business ventures of her own. Ralph and Doris had been married 45 years when he preceded her in death in 1989.

Doris was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, but foremost, she was devoted to her Lord and savior Jesus Christ. She was a faithful servant to the body of Christ as she cared for them with good home-cooked food, intercessory prayer, words of encouragement, and songs or praise. She lived her life as an inspiration to all she met. Those of us who have known her devoted care will forever miss and remember her.

Doris is survived by her children and their spouses, Donna and Forrest Winsted of Oakridge, John and Carol Dodson of La Pine, Ron and BarbeAnn Dodson of La Pine, Martha and Ian Elliott of Junction City, Melissa and Steve Newman of Bend and Vonda and Rick King of Bend, 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Claudine Wynn of Mangum, Oklahoma, Sue Gearin of Sacramento, California, Margie Lall of Sacramento, California, and Janie Morgan of Redmond as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Along with her husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by her son, Mike Dodson, in 1988, grandson, Doug Winsted, in 1991, and great-great-grandson, Kade Jacobson, in 2007.

A memorial service and celebration of life are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 7, 2009. The service will be held at Christian Life Center, 21720 Hwy 20 East, Bend, Oregon. An open reception will follow in the fellowship hall.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers you might consider a gift in memory of Doris Dodson to support the Partners in Care Hospice House of Bend, the Alzheimers Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
