Katherine Teresa (Tripodi) Schilz of Crooked River Ranch died March 20, 2002 of natural causes. She was 81.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Redmond.

Mrs. Schilz was born August 27, 1920 in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania. She married Bernard 'Dutch' Schilz March 21, 1952, in Babbitt, Nevada.

She worked on an assembly line in a ribbon factory. She was also a homemaker. She moved to Crooked River Ranch in 1996 to be near family.

Mrs. Schilz enjoyed flowers, cooking, spending time with her family and shopping trips with her daughter.

Friends describe her as spunky but also a classy woman, a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was affiliated with the Redmond Zion Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Crooked River Ranch Seniors, the Mariposa Lily Garden Club in Crooked River Ranch, Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Vancouver, Washington.

Her survivors include:

Son, Tony Schilz of Vancouver, Washington

Daughter Paula Pierson of Crooked River Ranch

Brother Larry Tripodi of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband "Dutch" Schiltz, her parents, her son Bernie Schilz and two brothers.

Memorial contributions should be made to the trust fund in Katherine's memory at Community First Bank, Terrebonne Branch, 8222 N Hwy 97, Terrebonne, Ore. 97760.
