Robert D. Shafer of Salem died June 11, 2002 of natural causes in Albany. He was 75.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Autumn Funerals in Redmond with Chaplain Vern Arledge officiating. A graveside service will follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Terrebonne.
Mr. Shafer was born Dec. 30, 1926, in Haden, Colorado, to Edgar and Verna (McHan) Shafer. He married Elizabeth Miller on March 20, 1995, in Quartsite, Ariz.
He served in the military during World War II.
Mr. Shafer worked as a plumber mostly in Seattle and Tacoma, Wash. He lived in Metolius for one year.
His survivors include:

Son, Roger of Golden Shores, Arizona
Stepson, Dennis Miller of Albany
Daughters, Cheryl Flis of Spokane, Washington, Sharon Wooda of Golden Shores, Arizona, and Nancy Olson of Yelm, Washington
Stepdaughter, Darlene Arledge of Redmond
Brothers, Joe of Gold Bar, Washington, Dick of Vancouver, Washington, and Mack of Banks
Sister, Sally Fellas of Banks
and 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
