Martin Johann Johannsen of Terrebonne died Saturday of natural causes. He was 76.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Terrebonne Pioneer Cemetery. A potluck will follow at the Terrebonne Horse Club.
Mr. Johannsen was born October 2, 1929, in Island Foehr, Germany, to Max and Martha (Clausen) Johannsen. He was raised and educated in Germany. He married Magdalena Wauer on November 20, 1953, in Germany. He and his wife emigrated from Germany to Sebastopol, California, in 1954, and moved to Terrebonne in 1965.
Mr. Johannsen worked as a carpenter, cabinet maker and construction worker until he retired in 1992. He also raised dairy cows and sold the milk. He was a member of the Carpenters Union, Hermann Sons and the Terrebonne Horse Club. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
His survivors include:
Wife, Magdalena
Son, Karl of Redmond
Daughter, Marlene Hunt of Terrebonne
Sisters, Marie Engelbrechtsen and Enken Peterson, both of Germany
and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Redmond-Sisters.
Autumn Funerals of Redmond is in charge of arrangements.
