Bob, the youngest of nine children, was born in Alderson, Pennsylvania, to Addie and Harry Hawley.
He joined the US Navy in 1955 served 10 years. He re-enlisted in 1968 and retired in 1977. He served in the Vietnam War.
He married Charlotte Alvey in El Cajon, California, September 19, 1959 and had five children.
For the last eight years Bob was a part-time employee at Terrebonne True Value. Bob was trained as a mechanic while in the service. He worked as a mechanic for more than 40 years.
His survivors include:
Wife, Charlotte
Daughters: Robin of Terrebonne and Sharon of Redmond
Sons: Dennis of Terrebonne, Bryan of Redmond, Tim of Bend
Sisters: Marjorie of Helena, Montana and Martha of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania
14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Viewing will be Friday, December 5, 2008, 9-11 a.m. at Redmond Memorial Chapel. Graveside service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Terrebonne Pioneer Cemetery.
