A memorial service will be held Jan. 16 for D. C. Davis of Cottage Grove, who died Jan. 12 of age-related causes. He was 83.
He was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Mena, Ark., to Charlie and Mary Neeley Davis. He married Barbara "June" Hembree on April 17, 1965, in Virginia City, Nev.
Davis served in Africa with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by Weyerhaeuser for 31 years. He enjoyed camping, woodworking and building things.
Survivors include his wife; a sister, Juanita McCoy of Mena; two brothers, G.W. of Knights Landing, Calif., and Charlie of Roseville, Calif.
Monday's service will be at 10 a.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Terrebonne.
Memorial contributions may be made to Coast Fork Nursing Center in Cottage Grove.
