Maria Elena (Herman) Wetle of Beaverton died August 31 of liver failure. She was 48.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Terrebonne Pioneer Cemetery.

Ms. Wetle was born March 14, 1957, in Glendale, California, to Thomas and Maria (Sanchez) Herman. She was raised in Bend and attended Bend High School.

Ms. Wetle worked at St. Vincent's Hospital until she retired in 2004 due to illness. She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Her survivors include:

Son, Jason of Beaverton

Brother, Jim Diefenderfer of Redmond

and one grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
