Louis Walter Powell of Culver died November 29, 2003 of natural causes. He was 88.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Culver Christian Church in Culver.
Mr. Powell was born July 3, 1915, in Falls City to Walter and Vida (Sprague) Powell. He married Anna Saxton on May 17, 1940.
Mr. Powell worked as a welder on Liberty Ships at the Oregon Shipyards in Portland before enlisting in the military. He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II .
Mr. Powell moved to Culver in 1945 and took up farming. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with children and his family.
His survivors include:
Wife, Anna, of Culver
Sons, Gary of Fairbanks, Alaska and Ray of Culver
Daughter, Linda Jordan of Grand Haven, Michigan
13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, his parents and a sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Culver Christian Church or the Boys and Girls Club of Oregon.
