George "Jack" John Morris, a Terrebonne resident, died July 27, 2000 at Terrebonne. He was 78.
At his request, no formal services will be held.
Mr. Morris was born to George and Lettie (Grey) Morris at Covina, California, on Dec. 10, 1921.
He served on a minesweeper in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. He married his wife, Margarette, in 1942. He was a country music disc jockey for 25 years in Covina, and later owned the Mixer Music music publishing company and the Topper Records record label. He was the No. 1 disc jockey in the United States twice during his career. In 1996 he was awarded the Independent Label of the Year by the Country Music Association of America. He was an avid golfer.
He moved to Terrebonne from Covina in 1983.
His survivors include:
Son, George John Morris, Jr., in Terrebonne
Daughter, Linda Wilson in Redmond
six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1993.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of Redmond, Sisters, and Grant County.
