A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Niswonger- Reynolds Chapel in Bend.
Mrs. Kalmbach was born July 5, 1913, in Kulm, N.D., the daughter of Dan and Mona Flegel. She earned a degree in education. She married Chris Kalmbach on April 16, 1938, in Kulm.
Mrs. Kalmbach worked as a teacher in North Dakota and for the Bend Public School District for 21 years.
She was a member of Grace First Lutheran Church in Bend, the Retired Educators Association and the Deschutes County Historical Society. She volunteered for the St. Charles Hospital Auxiliary for 25 years and for the Ambulance Corps during World War II. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano. She lived in Bend for more than 60 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Zoann Armbruster, of Sisters; two brothers, S.S. Flegel, of Prineville, and Lyonel Flegel, of Kulm; a sister, Eloys Lermo, of Woodville, Texas; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and a sister.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
